we've been playing hosts to matt, ex-flatmate from uni, for the best part of ten days. he's been here partly to catch up with friends but also to get us to help out on his new project. it's very much super sekrit at the moment, but he's asked both of us to join in once the concept becomes reality. more on that as and when.
it's been quite tough. for a start i'm supposed to be taking it easy still (doctor's orders) and playing hostess had to be tamed down. then it has to be said that ten days (with a short break when he went to stay with other friends) with a house guest is hard work. top that off with the immense energy he has and he's particularly excited about this project, let's call it project x, and well it's tiring just being in the same room!
but it was great to catch up and sit around bouncing ideas off each other for project x. it was really stimulating and the feel-good factor of realising i finally know what i'm talking about was great! so you can guess that bit. i would be involved in the usability aspects of project x. he asked my advice on a range of things and it surprised me that i could give sound advice and explain it with examples. yay!
we didn't do much other than sit around chatting and eating. we managed a day out in the big town with some of his friends. really nice people with a groovy flat in one of the old warehouses in shad thames. it was good to meet them, especially maría, from madrid. we talked in spanish for hours and i had some of her mouth-watering tortilla. it was also a nice change to wander about along the thames - though it was heaving as it was the day of the oxford-cambridge boat race. all in all a lovely day out.
he's gone up to york to see heather and mahlete then he's flying back to NY next week. we're probably going over to visit once he's moved back to minnesota in a few months. we're watching fargo and practising our oh yah!s :D
