i got my boots from duo. boy was i excited. i'd had them sent to work (they require a signature on receipt, so it seemed like the best idea) and there they were, in a big pink box, sitting on my desk where everyone could see them - and the tagline of "specialists in calf-fitting boots" - they might have just said "for fat birds"... but i digress. luckily no one asked about them and at lunchtime i sneaked a try on.
i very nearly cried.
i know, i know. but they were to be my saviour. and then they failed to deliver/live up to promises/meet my expectations etc. i could zip them straight up without blinking - good thing. they came right up to within an inch of my knee - another good thing. but from the ankle to all-bar-the-top-three-inches they were hugely wide.
the procedure for ordering them is based on measuring your calf at its widest point and choosing from the 13 (if memory serves) width fittings. so i went for 42 (not cos i couldn't resist it, but because it was the nearest to my actual measurement of 41. that's centimetres.) there is a great big elasticated vent, much bigger than i've seen on any other boot and had i known about it i would have definitely chosen the size down, rather than the size up.
however, the issue remained that the boots were nora batty baggy round my ankles and far too wide everywhere but the very top of the boot.
so i've posted them back and i'm going to buy some trousers.
